Tuesday October 3 Wrap Up

Today your heads were due. There were some truly amazing heads and some great representation. Heads were moved to the class shelves to dry for our bisque firing next week. They were to be leather hard and drying. If they were wetter we are trying to catch up and it may stress the clay a bit depending on your construction.

Magdolene and class discussed your research of artists who use the abstracted figure, and talked about how you're thinking about abstracting the figure.

To continue the brainstorming process, we cut up last week's exquisite corpse drawings into new exquisite corpse collages. From this you should create a refined drawing to scale (on 24") on butcher paper.

Push the level of abstraction by playing with proportions, orientation, texture as well as form and make the design your won. Find a way to acknowledge the exquisite corpse with your voice and interests. Find a form that pushes or skills. Your mocketts (click on link) and scale drawing should unify the form and address transition between sections.

Due Thursday: Scale drawing (detailed and resolved, if you can do from multiple angles that's even better). Several mocketts that show you are playing with your ideas and identifying technical concerns.

You will be starting the large sculpture on Thursday.

Keep up the good work and try to stay on top of thing:
