This part may be helpful... for me attaching well and paddling to compress is the most important part.

Two different approaches to eyes:
Find your own way. Experiment and look at your artists research. Push the realism and try different approaches. As long as you compress, keep walls 1/2" or so and consistent and do not have closed spaces with trapped air there is so much to learn!
Document as you go!

 These are the velvet underglazes I use and showed you. I use them on greenware but they say they can be used on bisque... A great option for more depth and a painterly surface instead of glazes.
