Tanya Batura

Tanya Batura
is a ceramic artist who is most known for her large scale head figures and known for giving the clay a smooth appearance. She creates work that focuses on mortality, beauty, and the human psyche.

"I do not try to control or dictate what the audience is experiencing. If they are moved on some level, then I feel the work was successful." -Tanya Batura

Tanya Batura’s work has been exhibited and reviewed in many high profile magazines including Beautiful Decay, The Los Angeles Times, Art Ltd. Art Scene and The LA Weekly. Her work was also exhibited in the 2005 Rogue Wave exhibition at LA Louver, she also has sculptures in the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas, the Portland Art Museum and the Arizona State Art Museum. Batura currently lives and works in Los Angeles. I find her work to be very inspiring, I hope to handle clay in the same way as she does one day.
