Thursday August 31st Wrap-up

Hello class,

Today your 1" sculptures were due at the start of class. A formal critique will happen later but we discussed scale and making briefly and visually compared the results. Most of you did amazing. Thank you for pushing details, craftsmanship, and amount of work. Several of you really showed your ambition. I hope that continues and more of you push expectations.

We signed up for our 2 per student research blog posts. Take note of your date and artist. Postings due at midnight Friday the week of assigned artist. Posts are time stamped and late work will not be accepted. Talk to me before they are due if you have issues finding information or posting.

Tuesday we will go over your research and sketches. Refer to your handout for details but remember more is always better. You would never hand in a paper without an outline and or just the 1st draft.
Clay is labeled. Do your best to keep the room and tables clean. A red and white wedging table has been set up... use only plastic scrapers on the plaster wedging tables! Metal scrapers are for the canvas tables.

Feel free to get started on your heads. Stay within the recommended 6-8", do not go smaller. Start with your self portrait set so we can brainstorm together on your other forms.

Roundtable discussion at 9am Tuesday. Be ready to work with sketches and research, tools, mirror and photos of yourself from different angels... we'll talk the 1st hour and work the rest.
Have a great holiday weekend. Email if you need anything.

A little inspiration as you start sculpting your heads.
